Fluoride is an element that helps to fill in the gaps, so to speak, of your teeth at a molecular level. If you think of your teeth as a lattice, then fluoride can naturally fill in the spaces in that lattice and help prevent unwanted toxins, corrosive chemicals, etc. into those spaces. There is a small amount of sodium fluoride in most toothpaste, but because this chemical is harmful if swallowed, some people would prefer to have a dentist apply a full fluoride treatment to prevent tooth decay. We can do this at our practice.
